When CeCe was 16, her mother passed away, making those trips “back home” to the Tar Heel state even more significant and special. To this day, CeCe’s fondest childhood memories center on family reunions, cookouts, and hot summer nights making homemade blackberry ice cream with her Grandma Ruby. A stay-at-home mom, CeCe enjoys fixing tasty meals in her kitchen and spoiling her own kids with treats from her favorite family recipes. She and her husband, Brian, are blessed with four beautiful children: Hunter, Mackenzie, Beau-Gabriel, and Dawson. Over the years, CeCe has dreamed of opening a dessert shop where others could create sweet memories. Brian always promised that together, they would make that dream a reality… In 2008, Brian sold his West Coast health care practice and headed for Nashville, Tennessee with his family. Soon after, the first Sweet CeCe’s Frozen Yogurt & Treats was born and quickly became a local favorite. Guests loved the experience of mixing their own special creations. In 1939, over a half century ago, Frank and Mattie Lorino opened The Little Dutch Restaurant and it fast became known as the “best place to eat in Morristown”. Frank had a warm welcome for all, a heart of gold, and a tremendous compassion for the downtrodden. He went on to his great reward on January 28, 1970 but The Little Dutch Restaurant and his memories live on. The Angelos family took over operation on The Little Dutch in 1973. They pledged to carry on the traditions of tasty wholesome, home-cooked food, priced reasonably, traditions established by Frank and Mattie. “A place where good friends and good food get together.” Whatever the occasion, the cuisine will continue to be delicious and mouthwatering. We are prepared to suit the most discriminating tastes and always at an affordable price. The motto at The Little Dutch says it best, “PLEASE THE PALATE AND THE POCKETBOOK.” George Angelos and his wife Nina devote full time to The Little Dutch. Our history and vision for the future
Morristown’s Main Street area, with an approximate area of a square mile, grew up around a waterway known as Turkey Creek and the intersection of two railroad lines. In 1962, the creek flooded, nearly wiping out the downtown commercial district. At the same time, a suburban shopping mall on the city’s west side was draining the vitality of the historic downtown district, and the city developed a plan to modernize Main Street by creating an “overhead sidewalk” that would turn the second floor of the existing buildings into a new “street” while serving as a canopy for the sidewalks below. Building owners spent nearly $2 million upgrading their properties and linking them to the ramp, while the government contributed over $5 million to build the elevated walkways and to enlarge and reroute the underground channel carrying Turkey Creek.Learn More
Crossroads Downtown Partnership Overview
Crossroads Downtown Partnership goes through an annual recertification process. Based on what we have done, what we plan to accomplish, and how we have gone about it, we are recertified by the Tennessee Dept. of Economic and Community Development and by the National Main Street Center of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. For more information about Tennessee Main Street Program visit http://www.tennesseemainstreet.org/
All certified Main Street Programs operate on the 4-point approach of Economic Revitalization, Organization, Design and Promotions and use these four points to incrementally accomplish overall goals. This comprehensive strategy helps us leverage the many assets Morristown already has including historic, cultural and architectural resources to local enterprises and community pride. These assets help downtown compete for businesses, jobs, tourists, and customers.
